“Happy Friday” began with a single acoustic guitar and grew organically from there. Written and lyricized by Jay Hope, the track came fully to life in the studio, where the arrangement was developed in real time rather than meticulously planned in advance. Jay wrote the bass and drum parts during the recording sessions, allowing the song to retain the immediacy, spontaneity, and raw energy of its origins.
The result is a driving, infectious track that combines acoustic textures with indie pop sensibilities, while maintaining the unpredictable genre-blending approach that has become central to A Project Called Love.
Drummer Dennis Aubele delivers a powerhouse performance that anchors the track and pushes its momentum forward. Jay Hope and producer Julian Schneid then added another unmistakably human element to the recording: real-life handclaps captured directly into the mix.
