Peter DiMaggio Captures Heartbreak and Hope on New Indie Folk Single ‘Chasing A Trace’

LISTEN HERE | ARTWORK

Following the success of his debut single ‘Fly Away’, Peter DiMaggio returns with his latest single ‘Chasing A Trace’.

Following the warm reception of his debut single Fly Away, award-winning actor, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Peter DiMaggio returns with his captivating new release, “Chasing a Trace,” the second single from his forthcoming project and the latest release through emerging independent label Passeri Records.

Bittersweet yet hopeful, “Chasing a Trace” showcases DiMaggio’s gift for pairing intimate storytelling with lush, organic instrumentation. Built around layered acoustic guitars, evocative slide guitar, and a wistful trumpet performance reminiscent of jazz icon Chet Baker, the track invites listeners into a reflective landscape of longing, memory, and emotional resilience. DiMaggio’s warm, conversational vocal style balances easy-listening charm with deeply personal lyricism, drawing inspiration from artists such as Jack Johnson and Ethan Tasch while establishing a voice distinctly his own.

Recorded and produced across Boston, Los Angeles, and Europe, “Chasing a Trace” represents a significant creative milestone for the Ohio-born artist, who continues to expand both his musical and theatrical careers.

“This song lives in that space between holding on and letting go,” says DiMaggio. “It’s about searching for pieces of something that once felt important, while learning to move forward with hope. Working with an incredible team across different cities and countries helped bring that feeling to life in a way I’m really proud of.”

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, DiMaggio is a self-taught musician proficient in piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, harmonica, and numerous other instruments. His artistic journey has seen him excel across multiple disciplines, earning acclaim both on stage and in the studio. After studying at the Interlochen Arts Academy, Boston University, and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, he has built an impressive theatre career with leading companies including SpeakEasy Stage Company, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, Actors’ Shakespeare Project, Sh!t-faced Shakespeare, and Wheelock Family Theatre, where he received an Elliot Norton Award for his performance in The SpongeBob Musical.

Currently, DiMaggio is leading the regional premiere of Swept Away at Boston’s Calderwood Pavilion through May 23. The production marks the first staging of the musical without its original cast, with DiMaggio stepping into the role originally created by Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr. Based on the music of The Avett Brothers and inspired by their acclaimed concept album Mignonette, the production has already received enthusiastic reviews and recognition from both the band and local media.

Beyond the stage, DiMaggio’s screen credits include the award-winning short films Shampoo (2024) and Dissection Day (2025), as well as appearances on the national and international festival circuit. As a composer, he has written music for the original musical Max’s House and scored the short film The Fairy House.

As the second release from Passeri Records and the second glimpse into his upcoming project, “Chasing a Trace” signals an exciting new chapter for DiMaggio as he continues to bridge his diverse artistic influences into a singular musical identity.

Carlotta Schmidt Releases Sophomore Album ‘Overthinker’

A Bold, Personal, and Meticulously Crafted Journey Through Thought, Change, and Introspection

LISTEN HERE | DOWNLOAD ALBUM | MEDIA ASSETS

For more than a decade, New Jersey-based singer/songwriter, guitarist, and producer Carlotta Schmidt (she/they) has been captivating audiences with soaring vocals, heartfelt lyricism, and vibrant acoustic guitar work. Now, with the release of her sophomore album Overthinker, Schmidt delivers their most intimate and ambitious work to date; an entirely self-written and self-produced 10-track record that reflects a life in transition, reflection, and emotional intensity.

Released in 2025, Overthinker showcases Carlotta Schmidt’s full creative control and artistic vision. The album features her band, The Bold, alongside acclaimed guest musicians cellist Dave Eggar (Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Norah Jones) and violinist Lyris Hung (Beyoncé, Quincy Jones, Indigo Girls). Together, they help shape a richly layered sonic landscape that blends jazz-inspired acoustic rock with emotionally charged storytelling.

Schmidt’s first self-titled album introduced audiences to their signature blend of original compositions and reimagined classics, earning praise for its inventive acoustic jazz-rock approach. With Overthinker, critics and fans alike have continued to celebrate Schmidt’s evolving artistry and emotional depth.

Over the years, Carlotta Schmidt has performed at iconic venues including New York City’s legendary The Bitter End, and New Jersey landmarks such as The Stone Pony, Asbury Lanes, House of Independents, and The Wonder Bar. She has shared stages with a wide range of artists, including 11-time Grammy Award winner Brandi Carlile and Grammy-nominated jazz trumpeter Jon Faddis.

In 2024, Schmidt created and produced the women-led, Lilith Fair-inspired festival Fourth Wave Fest, raising thousands of dollars for a New Jersey nonprofit supporting survivors of domestic violence. In 2025, they received the Emerging Artist Grant from the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation, followed by a 2026 nomination for Asbury Park Music Awards’ Emerging Artist of the Year (Individual).

At its core, Overthinker is an album about thought itself; its weight, its chaos, and its meaning. “This is an album about thinking. Lots of thinking. Perhaps over-thinking,” Schmidt explains. “My life changed so much between my first and second albums. I came out, I experienced devastating loss, I worked with heroes… everything that was happening was constantly swirling around my head.”

The album spans themes of love, grief, anxiety, longing, identity, and transformation. Written over approximately four months, each song was created by Schmidt alone, composed on a 1979 Guild D55 acoustic guitar, frequently in quiet solitude on her bedroom floor.

Schmidt self-produced Overthinker, choosing to maintain full creative control. “I had a very clear vision in my head for every aspect of the album. I spent hours reworking mixes, arrangements, and every small detail,” they said. “I loved the independence of being my own producer. I found it to be a very empowering and rewarding experience.” The Bold features guitarist Mike Flynn, bassist Paul Avrutin, and drummer Lee Finkelstein (of the original Blues Brothers Band). Each brought distinct musical experience and personality into the recording process, helping shape the album’s dynamic foundation.

The record also includes standout contributions from Dave Eggar, whose free-form cello arrangements added unexpected depth, and Lyris Hung, whose violin work brought emotional texture. Hung’s involvement was especially meaningful for Schmidt, who has long admired her work with the Indigo Girls. “I didn’t think she would say yes,” Schmidt shares. “But she did. And working with her was unforgettable.”

“Let Me Be Me” is an anthem of identity and self-acceptance. The track quickly became a personal favorite for Schmidt and a fan highlight. Its music video features 67 participants from around the world holding lyric cards, amplifying its message of unity and queer visibility. “Oyster and Pearl” features both lap steel and violin; this track blends emotional contrast and sonic experimentation. “Woman Crush Wednesday” is a playful, high-energy track that showcases Schmidt’s expanded vocal and guitar range. “I Just Want To Talk To You” is a deeply personal tribute to Schmidt’s late mentor of ten years, and the only track featuring the full ensemble of The Bold, Dave Eggar, and Lyris Hung. “Rosalie” is the first collaboration with Lyris Hung, notable for its layered string arrangements and evolving studio experimentation.

Symonne Announces New Single ‘The Way You Love’

A Nostalgic, Emotion-Driven R&B Release Exploring Memory, Identity, and Emotional Intensity

LISTEN HERE | MEDIA ASSETS

Independent singer-songwriter Symonne returns with a deeply reflective new single that captures the emotional weight of memory, identity, and the quiet echoes of the past that continue to shape the present. Blending chilled R&B, contemporary soul, neo-soul, and pop influences, Symonne continues to refine a sound that is unmistakably her own, intimate, atmospheric, and emotionally direct. Her music balances vulnerability with melodic warmth, offering listeners a space to feel deeply and reflect honestly.

Symonne is a dynamic singer-songwriter from London whose artistry is rooted in emotional storytelling and genre-blending soundscapes. Music has been part of her life since childhood, from car-ride soundtracks to nursery rhymes sung by her grandfather, Andrew aka Sonson, shaping an early connection to melody and feeling.

As she grew, she began experimenting with vocal mimicry and tone, exploring the textures of artists she admired. That curiosity developed into a committed passion for songwriting and performance, forming the foundation of her distinctive artistic identity.

Living with BPD has intensified Symonne’s emotional perception, allowing her to translate complex internal experiences into raw, relatable music. Her songwriting often explores relationships, heartbreak, and the subtle emotional moments that define who we become.

As a proud independent artist, Symonne has already received support across major UK platforms including airplay on BBC 1Xtra and Rinse FM, as well as features in WORDPLAY Magazine. She has also performed live at The Courtyard Theatre, continuing to build a reputation for emotionally resonant live performances.

The new release, ‘The Way You Love’ is a warm, atmospheric R&B track rooted in nostalgia and emotional memory. It reflects on the people, moments, and past versions of oneself that linger quietly in the mind, not as longing, but as lasting emotional imprints that continue to shape the present.

Written during a reflective period, the single draws on Symonne’s lived emotional experience, including her relationship with BPD, which often heightens the clarity and intensity of memory. This perspective allows her to transform personal recollections into something cinematic, intimate, and universally relatable.

Musically, the track features smooth R&B melodies layered over soft, nostalgic production — warm chords, subtle harmonies, and a vocal delivery that balances tenderness with emotional depth. The result is a soundscape that mirrors the experience of revisiting a memory you can’t return to, but still carry with you.

This release marks a reflective chapter in Symonne’s artistry, reinforcing her ability to turn lived experience into storytelling that feels both personal and shared.

Producer: Sheridan Bennett (@superbeats1)

To accompany the release, Symonne is collaborating with Maryam (@maryam._.graphics) — an animation creator known for her relatable, emotionally expressive, and “girly storytelling” style — to launch a short-form visual campaign introducing the single.

Through animated vignettes, the campaign will bring the song’s nostalgic and emotional themes to life in a way that feels intimate, modern, and highly shareable. The collaboration forms the creative core of #SadClub26, a focused rollout designed to connect audiences to the emotional and relationship-centred narrative behind the track.

Symonne continues to grow a highly engaged audience through TikTok via TikTok under the handle @SoftVoicesWithin, where she shares soft, emotionally grounded content that raises gentle awareness around living with BPD

Elare André Announces Debut Full-Length Album ‘MUSIC FOR ALL OCCASIONS’: A Genre-Defying, Queer-Centered Sonic World

Producer, songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Elare André announces the official vinyl release of his debut full-length album, MUSIC FOR ALL OCCASIONS. The project collects 13 previously released tracks, initially distributed across streaming platforms throughout 2025 and 2026 in a deliberately non-linear order, and presents them here in their intended sequence for the first time.

MUSIC FOR ALL OCCASIONS marks a defining statement from an artist known for dissolving genre boundaries and building emotionally charged, experimental pop worlds.

Rooted in alternative R&B, progressive pop, electronic experimentation, and what André has playfully termed “tainted disco,” the album exists somewhere between the club, the bedroom, and the cinematic subconscious. Drawing comparisons to artists such as James Blake, Jai Paul, Frank Ocean, Sampha, Mk.gee, Daniel Caesar, Charli XCX, and Björk, André’s sound exists in constant motion; intimate, fractured, and emotionally direct.

The result is a body of work that feels both handcrafted and expansive: music that resists perfection in favor of presence, vulnerability, and emotional immediacy.

The album’s title, MUSIC FOR ALL OCCASIONS, is intentionally ironic. André explains it as a multi-layered concept: a rejection of genre utility, a critique of mood-based listening culture, and a personal reflection on identity.

“It’s funny because there is no such thing,” André notes. “I don’t write music for a specific occasion—lounge, club, background, whatever. And for me, being queer is not something that turns off. It’s present in everything. This music carries that with it, whether it’s explicit or not.”

Across the album, queer identity is both overtly expressed and subtly embedded, shaping its emotional architecture and lyrical perspective.

Originally released as individual tracks in a deliberately scrambled order across digital platforms, MUSIC FOR ALL OCCASIONS has now been reassembled into its intended narrative flow. The vinyl edition reframes the project as a cohesive album experience; one that moves through satire, introspection, digital fatigue, love, shame, and release.

All tracks were written, produced, and performed by Eric Tempelare (Elare André), with additional lyrics and vocals by Zachary Trebellas (Fruit Punch) on “Sometimes,” the album’s only featured collaboration.

Track Highlights

  • “Baby, you should get in too” – A stylistic pivot into country-leaning textures and a love song dedicated to André’s husband, recorded in part during their wedding celebration.
  • “What’s Baby’s Name?” – A self-aware “brag track” built around identity, presence, and recognition.
  • “Sometimes,” (feat. Fruit Punch) – A long-awaited queer collaboration exploring desire, intimacy, and contradiction.
  • “Fuck That” – A rejection of influencer culture and algorithm-driven artistry.
  • “And then I paused to take a selfie” – A surreal reflection on modern self-documentation and vulnerability.
  • “In the modern world” – A critique of attention economies and passive consumption.
  • “iPhone on my mind” – A meditation on technological dependency and compulsive attention loops.
  • “Swimming in AI” – A pre-AI-generated artistic response to the accelerating presence of artificial intelligence in culture.
  • “Overstimulated” – A chaotic snapshot of sensory overload in the digital age.
  • “Zen Shit” – A meditation on distraction, mindfulness, and mental noise.
  • “I did what I thought was right” – A reconciliation with childhood shame and identity.
  • “Tainted Disco” – A genre-defining thesis for André’s emotional, shadowed dance music aesthetic.
  • “Heaven is a place I wanna go if I can still go down on you” – A final statement of defiance, embodiment, and unapologetic queer presence.

MUSIC FOR ALL OCCASIONS, is not designed to match a mood; it is the mood. It is equal parts satire, confession, dance record, and emotional archive. It embraces contradiction: joy and exhaustion, irony and sincerity, intimacy and spectacle. Above all, it reflects an artist committed to creating without concession.

MUSIC FOR ALL OCCASIONS, is available on streaming services and on vinyl via elareandre.com and select independent record retailers.

ROIL Announces Debut Album ‘Living Outside the Closet’

LISTEN HERE | DOWNLOAD ALBUM | MEDIA ASSETS

Belgium-based queer indie-pop artist shares an honest, emotional, and witty journey through identity, masculinity, heartbreak, and healing.

Belgium-based singer-songwriter ROIL announces the release of his upcoming album Living Outside the Closet. Blending indie pop, alternative textures, and deeply personal storytelling, the album captures the realities of growing up queer, learning authenticity, and finding connection after pain.

ROIL is the musical project of Ryo Sakai, a half-Thai, half-Japanese artist born in 1991 whose songwriting reflects experiences of coming out, navigating relationships, and redefining masculinity and self-worth. Across the album, ROIL balances vulnerability with humour, pairing intimate lyrics with atmospheric pop production inspired by artists such as Conan Gray, Troye Sivan, Phoebe Bridgers, Chappell Roan, and Rex Orange County.

“Living Outside the Closet is about surviving emotionally and finally allowing yourself to exist honestly,” says ROIL. “It’s about loneliness, identity, love, shame, confidence, and realising that being authentic can be painful but also freeing.”

Raised in Asia during the 2000s, ROIL grew up facing the challenges many queer teens experienced at the time — struggling with acceptance from peers, family expectations, relationships, and the process of finding independence. His musical background began early through cello and keyboards, with influences ranging from classical music and jazz to Thai rock and J-pop. Over time, his sound evolved toward British alternative and emotionally driven pop, drawing inspiration from artists and bands such as Supertramp, The Smiths, Snow Patrol, Alanis Morissette, and The Cranberries.

The album’s tracks move between melancholic confession and sharp self-awareness. Songs like “manhood” explore his complicated relationship with masculinity with both sincerity and humor, while “I don’t mind” reflects the resilience that develops after enduring judgment and emotional setbacks. Elsewhere, tracks like “Straight Guy”, “Outside the Closet”, and “Shittier Than Goodbye” tackle longing, identity, and heartbreak with raw honesty.

With a sound rooted in indie pop and alternative music, ROIL places strong emphasis on lyricism and expressive vocals, using music as both personal healing and a way to connect with listeners who may see their own stories reflected in his songs.

“With Living Outside the Closet, ROIL delivers a deeply personal yet universally relatable debut;  fearless, emotional, and unapologetically honest. His ability to blend vulnerability, humour, and alternative pop sensibilities makes this record feel both intimate and timely,” shares music publicist Danielle Holian, Decent Music PR.

NMDA & Isabelle Rose Team Up For New Single ‘Stoned’

LISTEN HERE | MEDIA ASSETS

Electrosoul innovators collide in a deeply emotional and cinematic new release exploring cycles of trauma, accountability, and shared humanity

Multi-instrumentalist producer NMDA and vocalist/songwriter Isabelle Rose announce their powerful new single, “Stoned,” a genre-blending electrosoul release that fuses gospel intensity, electronic production, and raw emotional storytelling.

NMDA is known for redefining genre boundaries through a fluid mix of electronic production and live instrumentation. Originally a guitarist and saxophonist performing across punk rock and jam fusion scenes, he evolved into a self-taught producer whose work spans chillhop, downtempo, ambient, funk, soul, and electrofunk. Influenced by artists such as FKJ, Gramatik, Lettuce, GRiZ, and Emancipator, NMDA continues to build immersive, groove-driven soundscapes rooted in texture and emotional depth.

Vocalist Isabelle Rose brings a commanding presence shaped by jazz and classical training, as well as influences including Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Susan Tedeschi, and Joss Stone. Her performances blend gospel grit, vintage soul energy, and emotional intensity, honed through years of stage experience and collaborations with acts such as Deep Banana Blackout and Funky Dawgz Brass Band.

Written in November 2025 following a turbulent travel experience, “Stoned” was created during an unexpected studio session in Denver. While driving cross country and immersing himself in a variety of music, NMDA felt inspired to bring a deeper emotional and lyrical depth through soul and blues influenced instrumentation and vocal delivery. Over months of collaboration surrounding song structure and lyrical direction, Isabelle Rose channeled inspiration from personal life experiences to deliver one of her most powerful lyrical and vocal performances to date.

What emerged instead was a deeply reflective and challenging composition addressing sexual abuse, trauma, and cyclical harm from multiple perspectives, including both survivor and perpetrator. The track intentionally broadens its lens to include all genders and the psychological “prisons” formed by unresolved trauma and inherited behavioral cycles.

Rather than presenting a singular viewpoint, “Stoned” explores the uncomfortable complexity of shared human responsibility, portraying all parties as both shaped by and trapped within the consequences of experience and action.

For Isabelle Rose, the song carries autobiographical weight informed by her lived experience as a survivor of sexual abuse, as well as her long-standing commitment to speaking openly about healing, accountability, and compassion.

Musically, “Stoned” sits at the intersection of electrosoul, gospel, and electro-orchestral production, pairing NMDA’s intricate sonic layering with Isabelle Rose’s powerhouse vocal delivery. The result is a cinematic, emotionally charged track that balances organic performance energy with precise electronic composition.

“Stoned” marks a bold creative step for both artists; an uncompromising, emotionally charged collaboration that pushes beyond genre and into deeply human storytelling.

About the Artists
NMDA continues to develop a sound that merges live instrumentation with forward-thinking electronic production, building a catalog that emphasizes groove, emotion, and sonic exploration.

Isabelle Rose is a rising force in contemporary soul and performance music, known for her commanding vocal delivery, emotional honesty, and genre-blending artistry across jazz, gospel, and rock-influenced styles.

Dayfiction Unleashes New EP ‘Divine Intermission’

LISTEN HERE | MEDIA ASSETS | EPK

Post-punk quintet captures modern unrest and fleeting beauty on their most urgent release yet

Virginia-based post-punk outfit Dayfiction returns with Divine Intermission, a gripping new EP that pushes the band further into a sound defined by abrasive energy, emotional immediacy, and atmospheric intensity. Recorded in the days leading up to vocalist Evan Solomon’s temporary relocation to London, the project stands as both a timestamp and confrontation of modern turbulence, a record equally unforgiving in its urgency and desperate in its search for meaning and beauty.

Formed in 2024, Dayfiction, Evan Solomon (vocals), Noah Brown (guitar), Mateo Melchor Dutto (guitar), Jackson Prior (bass), and Hannah Johnson (drums), quickly evolved beyond their garage rock beginnings on their debut Blurry World. Across a relentless 2025 that saw the release of singles “Peacemaker,” “Lost You,” and the EP Diplomat, the band sharpened their identity into something more refined, restless, and emotionally charged.

Over the past year, Dayfiction has also built a reputation as a commanding live act, opening for contemporary artists including Inhaler, Bass Drum of Death, Lip Critic, Hello Mary, Native Sun, and Her New Knife. As the group continues expanding its reach between Richmond and New York City, Divine Intermission arrives as their boldest statement yet.

“I started writing and developing these songs around August of 2025,” says Solomon. “A lot of people close to me were leaving for school or moving into completely new chapters of their lives, and I felt stuck in this strange in-between period. Life started feeling repetitive and monotonous, but at the same time the band was growing and our show schedule was getting bigger. I made it a point to write every day instead of waiting around for inspiration to suddenly hit. Eventually, the writing process itself became the way I made sense of everything.”

That tension, between momentum and uncertainty, isolation and connection, runs through the DNA of Divine Intermission. Drawing from the jagged emotional weight of artists like Fontaines D.C., Joy Division, Protomartyr, The Murder Capital, Shame, Gang of Four, The Cure, and Wunderhorse, the EP channels themes of transition, alienation, and emotional survival into a visceral post-punk framework.

With Divine Intermission, Dayfiction captures the feeling of standing suspended between chapters, documenting the anxiety, catharsis, and fleeting clarity that emerge in moments of personal and cultural instability. It’s a record that refuses complacency, delivering sharp-edged songwriting with equal parts fury and vulnerability.

ARTIST BIO
Virginia-based post-punk quintet Dayfiction occupies the negotiated space between abrasive energy and visceral, melodic atmosphere. Formed in 2024, the group— Evan Solomon (vocals), Noah Brown (guitar), Mateo Melchor Dutto (guitar), Jackson Prior (bass), and Hannah Johnson (drums)— quickly transcended their garage rock roots on debut, Blurry World, to forge a more refined, insistent sound.

Throughout a busy 2025, with releases of singles “Peacemaker,” “Lost You,” and the EP Diplomat, the band established themselves as a formidable live force. In the past year, Dayfiction opened for contemporary acts such as Inhaler, Bass Drum of Death, and other rising groups Lip Critic, Hello Mary, Native Sun, and Her New Knife.

Now expanding their reach between Richmond and New York City, the band returns with their new EP, Divine Intermission. Recorded in the days before Solomon’s temporary relocation to London, the record serves as a prophetic confrontation and timestamp of modern turbulences— at once unforgiving in its intensity and desperate in its grasp for beauty.

Gab Gordon Unveils New Single ‘Slowburn’

LISTEN HERE | MEDIA ASSETS

Indie pop artist Gab Gordon returns with her latest single, “Slowburn,” a cinematic indie pop / dream pop release that unfolds slowly through tension, atmosphere, and emotional restraint. The track is featured on her latest EP, The Pretty Bazaar.

Blending indie pop, dream pop, and alt-pop sensibilities, “Slowburn” captures the feeling of romantic tension that builds gradually over time; the kind of connection that becomes impossible to ignore. It lives in the space between comfort and vulnerability, where familiar emotions begin to shift into something deeper and more uncertain.

Built for late nights, dim lighting, and quiet conversations, the track leans into mood and subtle progression rather than immediacy. Drawing inspiration from romantic 80s pop atmospheres and modern indie production, “Slowburn” evolves with slowly layered synths, nostalgic pop percussion, and airy vocal harmonies that mirror the emotional unfolding of a relationship.

At its core, “Slowburn” is a study in restraint, trading instant gratification for emotional weight, tension, and slow-burning longing.

ABOUT GAB GORDON

Gab Gordon is an indie pop artist blending dream pop textures with a cinematic, retro-glam aesthetic. Her music is defined by layered harmonies, strong melodic instincts, and immersive soundscapes that feel both intimate and expansive.

Raised just outside Philadelphia in a musical household, Gordon grew up surrounded by a wide range of influences. Early exposure to performance through her father’s band, along with classical piano training, laid the foundation for her melodic sensibility. She later expanded into guitar, bass, and drums, developing a multi-instrumental approach to songwriting and arrangement.

While studying biomechanical engineering in college, Gordon began exploring music production, which deepened her fascination with sonic texture and experimentation. This technical background evolved into an artistic curiosity about resonance, materiality, and how subtle sonic differences shape emotional perception; eventually extending into custom guitar pedal design and hands-on sound shaping.

Her songwriting process is highly melodic and instinct-driven, often beginning with fragments of music that surface unexpectedly throughout the day. That instinctive approach was first shaped during her time as a Division I rower, where long, quiet mornings on the water became a space for internal storytelling and musical reflection. Lyrics, by contrast, tend to emerge later, formed through late-night introspection and emotional processing.

Across her work, Gordon emphasizes melody, vocal layering, and atmosphere, drawing from classic songwriting traditions while maintaining a distinctly modern indie pop edge. Her sound sits at the intersection of nostalgia and innovation; familiar yet distinctly her own.

Alongside her music, Gordon has developed a cohesive visual world inspired by vintage fashion editorials, retro glamour, and late-night urban landscapes. This aesthetic runs through her releases, creating a unified artistic experience that blends sound, image, and emotion.

As her audience continues to grow, Gordon is building toward a larger body of work defined by mood, emotional depth, and a strong visual and sonic identity.

Emerging indie pop and alternative pop artist Julia Sommerfield is set to make her official debut with the release of her first single, “Ratata,” streaming on all major platforms beginning May 12. With evocative storytelling, haunting soundscapes, and raw emotional depth, Sommerfield introduces herself as a powerful new voice in contemporary music.

Originally from Seattle, Washington, Sommerfield now resides in Los Angeles, where she studies Writing for Screen and Television at the University of Southern California. Her passion for storytelling began in childhood, particularly through music. She penned her first original song at just 11 years old, laying the foundation for a creative journey that continues to evolve. Though her writing has expanded into novels and screenplays, music remains at the heart of her artistic identity.

A former band student, Sommerfield is currently pursuing a minor in songwriting at USC’s prestigious Thornton School of Music. Through opportunities there, she will travel to London this summer to perform with her band, Andromeda, further cementing her presence as a rising talent on the global stage. She hopes her work will inspire other young artists to pursue their creative dreams with courage and authenticity.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Bob Dylan, Laufey, Lizzy McAlpine, and Billie Eilish, Sommerfield blends introspective lyricism with atmospheric production to create a sound that is both intimate and cinematic.

Her debut single, “Ratata,” explores themes of resilience and survival. Written during her recovery from a serious illness, the song captures the push and pull between surrender and the will to keep fighting. In a metaphorical twist, the illness is personified as a captivating yet dangerous figure, one that lures and consumes. The track’s haunting, dreamlike production immerses listeners in this emotional struggle, echoing the seductive pull of despair while ultimately affirming perseverance and strength.

“The girl described in the song is the illness itself,” Sommerfield explains. “She seems perfect; you’re taken in by her, consumed by her. But the song asks: ‘Would you ever believe her when she tells you the truth?’ It’s about recognising what’s harming you and choosing to fight back.”

Produced in collaboration with Brian Squillace, “Ratata” features eerie, nightmare-inspired sound design that draws listeners into a surreal sonic landscape. Its hypnotic vocalisations and immersive atmosphere mirror the spellbinding nature of struggle, while its message ultimately celebrates truth, resilience, and the power of survival.

“Julia Sommerfield is an extraordinary new voice in indie pop. Her debut single ‘Ratata’ is both haunting and empowering, showcasing a rare blend of cinematic storytelling, emotional depth, and artistic authenticity. She is truly an artist to watch,” shares music publicist Danielle Holian, Decent Music PR

KEVIN FARGE ANNOUNCES 27-TRACK ALBUM ‘COUNTRY LOVE SONG’

A sweeping, genre-blurring collection of folk, jazz, and Latin-inflected songwriting recorded in the Costa Rican jungle

Kevin Farge returns with Country Love Song, a sprawling 27-track album that feels less like a record and more like a lived-in world: humid, lush, and quietly transcendent. Recorded in a cabin surrounded by mango trees above a surf break in Costa Rica, the album folds together folk, Texas slowcore, orchestral indie pop, Brazilian jazz, and alt-country into something deeply personal and unexpectedly expansive.

At the center of it all is Farge’s voice, warm, unguarded, and intimate, carrying the emotional weight of distance, memory, and belonging with a disarming ease.

There’s a sophisticated charm to Farge’s genre-fluid approach: slowcore slow burns like “Coastal Fog” sit beside the breezy Spanish bossa of “Frijoles,” featuring longtime Devendra Banhart collaborator and composer Gregory Rogove. Across the record, collaboration becomes its own language, fluid, playful, and rooted in trust.

Collaborator Little Wings joins Farge on “Memphis,” a warm alt-country tune that leans into tenderness without irony. Elsewhere, “A Little More Fun” delivers a playful Ferris wheel country blues moment that highlights the rare chemistry between Kevin Farge and Kyle Field. Together they “burn it down baião” on the restless, rhythmic “Two Bags of Rice.”

Farge’s ability to synthesise traditions is at its most infectious on “Good Girls,” where country storytelling collides with Latin rhythms and indie-rock propulsion. Meanwhile, “Never Gonna Back Down” builds strings, breakbeats, and detuned acoustic guitar into a working-class anthem of resilience and persistence.

The album also contains moments of striking stillness. “Mariel Pt. 2” is a meditative seaside reflection on impermanence and presence. “Sing for Me, Darling” evokes the awe of a vast and hostile tropical wilderness as a surfer who immerses himself in it in all weather conditions can attest. Instrumentals like “Pastoral” evoke a lineage stretching from Portuguese guitar to Costa Rican marimba traditions, reinforcing Farge’s place within the contemporary American Primitive guitar scene while expanding its geography.

Raised between cultures, an American father and Costa Rican mother, Farge spent the last six years living in his mother’s village, traveling by bicycle, surfing regularly, and recording music in a home studio shaped by its environment. That life infuses Country Love Song with its textures: jungle density, ocean air, and a sense of time that moves differently.

Across its 27 tracks, Country Love Song resists passive listening. It asks for presence, and rewards it with warmth, humor, and emotional clarity. It is a record about contentment without complacency, about exploring paradoxes and movement forward.

As Farge puts it, “I grew up between worlds. This album is what it sounds like when those worlds stop arguing and start singing together. It’s about being still enough to hear everything.”

There’s a sense throughout Country Love Song that Farge is both observer and participant, hunter and hunted, rooted and wandering. The result is music that feels at once self-sufficient and searching, intimate and wide-open.

Country Love Song is a roaming, roaring, ranging affair on planet Earth; an invitation to slow down, listen closely, and find something honest in the heat, humidity, and light.
